This project was based on a Macguffins, which is an item that starts as a story but, becomes obsolete later down the line. I have done this by looking into the myth of ‘The Choice of Paris’, this story is about a golden apple brought to a wedding by the goddess of chaos that was for the fairest. That apple is the Macguffin as Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena, all desired it so much Zeus decides that the owner is to be decided by a mortal. When it is decided Aphrodite gives the mortal ‘Paris of troy’ Hellen of troy which causes the trojan war and we forget all about the apple.
I decided to use this story in my animation which was hand-drawn. I enjoyed drawing the animation as it is relaxing. I like how the brown paper I was using acted as a base to get to a skin-tone this is because, getting to flesh like shades is hard and using an easier way to get the desired result cuts on the timed of creation. I experimented with pastels, and charcoal; of which I did like the result because of how hands–on the process was. But it took way too long to make a feasible result by the due date, and I lacked to any form of fixative to use on the pictures to prevent smudging. I have tried using Sellotape as a fixative it failed as it gave it an undesired sheen and ruined the image that was made.
I believe the outcome was successful as it became an enjoyable animatic of Paris of Troy handing golden apple to Aphrodite. This was successful because, it was a nice animatic demonstrating the last time the Macguffin was relevant in the story which is a pivotal point in the myth as it the point that Aphrodite gives Paris Hellen of troy starting the trojan war, and the odyssey stories respectively. I think that I may use brown tones to help make flesh-tones in future as it saves a lot of time.
